Marion L. Breck Schooner Depth: 90ft |
Built in 1858. In October of 1907, the Marion L. Breck was grounded and wrecked after 49 years of service [67 years for the hull]. Her crew escaped to the island, and were assisted by a local lighthouse keeper. Ashore in Georgian Bay, fall 1888, recovered the next May. Spent the winter of 1895-6 locked in ice near Tawas City, Mich. Rebuilt in 1863 and had major repairs in 1873, 1876 & 1889. |
Forest City Steamer Depth: 60 to 150ft |
Built in 1870 as a schooner-barge, converted to propeller in 1872. On June 5, 1904, the Forest City ran into the rocky island in a dense fog, broke in two and was too heavily damaged to be released. Total loss. Major repair in 1881. The wreck is only suitable for Advanced divers due to the depth and currents. |
