Newaygo Steam Barge Depth: 25 ft |
Built in 1980 and lost in November of 1903 Upbound, the Newaygo missed the channel in a blinding blizzard-gale and went aground. A succession of storms tore her to pieces. She had been bound Cleveland for French River, Ont., towing the barge Checotah. Wreckage ended up on Devil Isl. Reef. Today, divers can see the massive timbers used in her construction. |
